Ceiling Fan Installation for Your Home, Investment Property or Rental
A Ceiling Fan Installed Wrong Is a Problem Hanging Over Your Head
Outdoor and alfresco fans are a different game again. Wrong IP rating, exposed wiring, non-compliant install in a wet area, that's not just an annoyance, that's a safety hazard. And for rental properties, a ceiling fan installation that wasn't done by a licensed electrician? That's a liability sitting there waiting for inspection day.

Questions Perth homeowners ask about Ceiling Fan Installation
Can you install a fan where there isn't one already?
Yes. We run new wiring to the spot, fit ceiling bracing and mount the fan. Doesn’t have to be where an existing light is. We put it wherever works best for the room.
Plasterboard alone won’t hold a ceiling fan. It needs bracing back to a joist or solid timber. That’s all part of the ceiling fan installation. We check the structure, brace it properly and make sure the fan isn’t going anywhere.
Can you install outdoor ceiling fans?
All the time. Alfresco areas, patios, covered decks: they’re some of our most common jobs. Outdoor ceiling fan installation comes down to the IP rating. The fan and all the wiring need to be rated for the level of exposure: damp for a covered patio, wet for anything more open.
If the fan you’ve bought isn’t rated for where you want it, we’ll tell you before we install it. Better to swap it out than fit something that rusts out in six months or gets flagged at inspection.
Do I need to supply the fan or can you provide one?
Up to you. Most people buy their own and we fit it. If you want us to handle the supply side as well, we can. We’ll match the fan to the room size, ceiling height and what you want to spend.
Worth mentioning though: cheap fans can be a pain. They’re harder to balance, noisier at speed and the motors don’t last as long. If you’re picking your own, give us a call and we’ll steer you toward the brands that actually hold up.
How long does a ceiling fan installation take?
About one to two hours per fan. That’s mounting, wiring, balancing and running it through all the speeds to make sure it’s right. New wiring from the switchboard or a wall controller adds a bit of time on top.
Getting a few done at once? Multi-fan jobs go quicker per fan once we’re on site. Three or four across the house can usually be knocked out in a single visit. The quote will have the full timeframe in it.
How much does ceiling fan installation cost?
Depends what’s involved. One fan on an existing circuit where the wiring’s already there. That’s the simple end. New wiring, wall controllers, outdoor-rated installs, high ceilings with extended downrods. All of that shifts the price.
Fixed quote upfront. No call-out fee. Multiple fans in the same visit brings the per-fan cost down. Just tell us what you’ve got and where it’s going. We’ll send through a price.
