Air Conditioning Electrical for Your Home, Investment Property or Rental
Your AC Installer Can't Switch It On Until the Electrical Is Done
The bottleneck is almost always the sparky. Your AC installer has done their job and now everyone's waiting on the electrical connection. A day's delay in summer means another night without cooling. For rental properties, it means a frustrated tenant and a PM chasing two trades to get one job finished. The faster the air conditioning electrical gets done, the faster everyone moves on.

Your Air Conditioning Electrical, Done Fast
- Dedicated Circuit: Own circuit from the switchboard, correctly rated for your AC unit. No shared loads, no tripping.
- Isolator Switch: Fitted at the outdoor unit as required by Australian standards. Non-negotiable for compliance.
- Installer Coordination: We work around your AC installer's schedule so neither trade is left standing around waiting. Call us and we'll match their timing.

Questions Perth homeowners ask about Air Conditioning Installation
Do I need an electrician to connect my air conditioner?
Yes. Any hardwired electrical connection to an air conditioning system has to be carried out by a licensed electrician. Your AC installer handles the refrigerant side — mounting the units, running the pipework, charging the gas. The air conditioning electrical — dedicated circuit, isolator switch, wiring to the switchboard — that’s a separate trade and it’s notifiable work.
Both trades need to finish before the system can be commissioned. We coordinate with your installer so it all happens on the same day where possible.
Can you coordinate with my AC installer?
That’s how most of these jobs run. The installer mounts the unit and does the refrigerant work, we handle the electrical connection — and ideally we’re on site the same day so the system is up and running before anyone leaves.
Give us your installer’s details and we’ll sort the timing directly with them. If they’re already on site and waiting on an AC electrician, call us — we prioritise same-day attendance for exactly this.
Does my air conditioner need a dedicated circuit?
Yes. Australian wiring standards require air conditioning systems to run on their own dedicated circuit. That means a separate circuit breaker in your switchboard wired directly to the unit — no shared loads with power points, lighting or other appliances.
A dedicated circuit stops the AC from tripping your safety switch under load and protects the unit from voltage issues. It also keeps your manufacturer’s warranty intact. If your switchboard doesn’t have room for an additional breaker, we’ll flag that in the quote and let you know what’s involved.
What's an isolator switch and do I need one?
An isolator switch is a manual disconnect fitted next to the outdoor unit of your air conditioner. It lets the system be completely de-energised for servicing or in an emergency without going back to the switchboard. Australian standards require one on every AC installation.
We fit the isolator as part of every air conditioning electrical job. It’s not optional — without it, the installation isn’t compliant and your AC installer won’t be able to sign off the commissioning.
How much does air conditioning electrical cost?
Depends on the setup. A straightforward connection where the switchboard is close to the unit and has spare capacity is the cheaper end. Longer cable runs, switchboard modifications or multi-head systems where more than one indoor unit is connected cost more.
Fixed quote upfront. No call-out fee. Tell us what unit is going in, where it’s going and where your switchboard is — we’ll send through a price. Usually within 24 hours.
