Licence and Compliance
1. Electrical Contractor's Licence
JOA Electrical holds WA Electrical Contractor’s Licence No. EC16761 issued by Building and Energy under the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). This licence authorises us to contract and carry out electrical work across the Perth metropolitan area. Our licence status can be verified on the public register maintained by Building and Energy.
2. Electrical Worker’s Licence
Every electrician working under JOA Electrical holds a current Western Australian electrical worker’s licence. We do not use unlicensed labour on any job. Licence details for individual workers are available on request.
3. Industry Membership
JOA Electrical is a registered member of the Electrical Contractors Association of Western Australia (ECA WA). Membership requires adherence to industry standards and ongoing commitment to professional conduct.
4. Insurance
We carry $20 million in public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance covering all work carried out by JOA Electrical. Our public liability is underwritten by Berkley Insurance Australia. Certificate details are available on request.
5. Compliance Certificates
Where required by WA regulations, we issue compliance documentation on completion of electrical work. This includes switchboard upgrades, new installations, safety switch fitting, and work carried out on rental properties. Certificates are provided before we leave the premises or within 24 hours of job completion. If you are a landlord or property manager, these certificates satisfy the compliance requirements for tenanted properties under WA tenancy legislation.
6. Standards And Regulations
All electrical work is performed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules) and all applicable Western Australian electrical safety regulations. We stay current with changes to the standard and any updates issued by Building and Energy.
7. Your Rights
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If you believe any work carried out by JOA Electrical does not meet the required standard, contact us so we can resolve it. If a matter cannot be resolved directly, you may refer it to Building and Energy or the relevant consumer protection authority in Western Australia.
